Build A Buoy (BAB)

The BAB program challenges students to use PVC, Frisbees®, and plastic cable ties (all materials listed are provided) to build a stable, floating platform that holds 30 golf balls, or stand 36” off the water without toppling.  At the end of the building session students are given indoor/outdoor thermometers to install on their buoy. Students leave the program understanding the concept of buoy construction and that there are two types of buoys; those that mark underwater obstructions and others that collect water quality data.  It’s a perfect way to model the STEM Engineering practices.
